"50 GREAT THEME SONGS" - Online Poll Spanned 50 Years of Television History As part of a celebration
of the fiftieth anniversary of TV Guide, visitors to the magazine’s website
(www.tvguide.com), recently selected Jan Hammer’s “Miami Vice Theme” as
the most popular TV theme song of the past 50 years. Out of the thousands
of possible theme songs, TV Guides’ editors selected one theme from each
of the past 50 years. The “Miami Vice Theme” was chosen to represent
the year 1986, and earned 35% of all votes cast. The theme from the
Andy Griffith Show placed second, with 13%, while the remaining 48 shows
collectively accounted for 52% of the voting. Here is a complete
