-
Online Poll Spanned 50 Years of Television History

As part of a celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of TV Guide, visitors to the magazine’s website (www.tvguide.com), recently selected Jan Hammer’s “Miami Vice Theme” as the most popular TV theme song of the past 50 years.  Out of the thousands of possible theme songs, TV Guides’ editors selected one theme from each of the past 50 years.  The “Miami Vice Theme” was chosen to represent the year 1986, and earned 35% of all votes cast.  The theme from the Andy Griffith Show placed second, with 13%, while the remaining 48 shows collectively accounted for 52% of the voting.  Here is a complete breakdown.
